ruth firebends

This is not something I usually say, but I am actually quite happy with how this came out. After drawing a couple of those quick Avatar-doodles, I sort of wanted to do a more complete picture, and I thought since ~MineralRabbit was the one who inspired all this pictures, I should draw her. Plus, you know, that would mean I'd get to draw fire.

I was actually very nervous about the fire, since I'd never really drawn it before, and I'll admit I could have done a better job on the lighting from the fire onto Ruth, but it was a lot of fun in general, and I think I could have done a worse job! Something to work on next time though, for sure.

This picture was also a bit different than my usual process, too; I didn't do any lines, and I actually sketched the whole thing before doing all the coloring in marker, and then I actually completely finished the marker before moving on to colored pencil, and then completely finished that layer before finally going over everything in pastel. Perhaps I should be more organized in any finished-y picture I do... I think it works better. Ehe.
